Difference in the Union Density of Canada and United States
On one end, the Occupational composition in Canada is different from the one in US. The high proportion of the manual workers are there in US while in Canada there is high proportions of the professionals who are perfect in their work. Thus, the occupational composition between the two countries also leads to the significant disturbance between the Union densities of the two countries.
Characteristics of Union Density in USA
1) The number of men in the unions of USA is much more in comparison to the number of women both in private and the public sectors.
2) The overall academic qualification is associated positively to the membership in the unions. This means that the unions consist of a good number of educated members.
3) The probability of becoming the members of the union has a rise as per the age and the maximum probability to join the union is for the people in the age group of late 40s.
4) The Union density rate is higher for the people who work full time in comparison to the one’s which are doing part time work in the industry (Card et al, 2003)).
