The concept of Gender politics is multi faceted. Generally speaking gender politics is assumed to be the political processes existing in society which is based on the gender of the individual. There are many political processes such as political aspects, institutions supported by politics, legislation and more that exist in society. Hence, the effect of gender on these elements would affect the concept of equality. More specifically gender politics is focused on the woman. The rights to vote, equal rights at home and in the workplace, women’s suffrage and the gaps in women participation in politics. Only some nations manage to attend to gender politics with an equal view. The Nordic nations come under this positive spotlight. The nations of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland are rated higher by world forums for their equal relationship society (World Economic Forum, 2013). This essay examines how Sweden ended up having such a strongly democratic and equal relationship society in terms of gender.
