Tourism in Malaysia and Singapore has grown during the years of 2007 and 2009. During recession of 2000, an economic down turn was observed in most parts of the world. This downturn impacted on decreasing the total number of tourists in the country. Malaysia according to me is maintaining the image and giving what the customers are demanding. They are depicting the true image and essence of Asia and their tagline also depicts that. They are not only focusing on the culture of the country but take environmental factors as an opportunity. Tourism and travel sector of Malaysia has developed strategies for preserving water and marine life. They are making resorts and theme parks that are not disturbing the nature and give excellent holiday experience to the customers. Societal factors are also positive for Malaysian tourism because the local residents of the country believe that it is their responsibility to attract tourists and maintain positive image of the country (Johnson, 2014). Malaysia has taken the issue of water wastage in a positive manner because they have developed policies for saving the water. Apart from this Singapore has gained importance in the world for travel and tourism. Businessmen are starting to invest in tourism sector of the country because it is the most profitable sector of the country today. Social issues like pollution, unethical acts and wastage of water are not attracting tourist. This issue is not placing a positive impact on the tourism of the country. Economy of Singapore is enjoying the benefits of tourism and its earnings but they need to take serious steps in regard of these issues. They need to work on their policies and hospitality sector of the country needs to take serious steps because hotel industry is showing tremendous opportunities but lack of concern on this industry can take back everything that was earned by the country.
