It was a song that was designed to mock the Yankees about their simpleton ideologies (Lemay 436). In the American Revolution to the same song, many more verses were added by the American people. The song that was originally sung to mock a culture was turned into something as a nationalistic pride. The same song was sung with different lyrics to motivate the people and also incite passion towards the revolution (Lemay 441). This shows that music can be a used for instruments of change. The same music has been used in many of the political innuendos.
