The Tortilla Curtain becomes the source of ensuring management of issues related to illegal immigrants, racial intolerance, etc. It also shows the problems associated with poverty and related matters whereby environmental destruction has come into the picture. A stirring account has been developed on the basis of a section on page 4 which states “The man must have been crouching in the bushes like some feral thing, like a stray dog” (Boyle, 2015). This section provides stunning and riveting account of the social ethos that have been expressed in the novel. The problems which are faced by immigrants within the society that looks for supremacy of the majority rules has been seen and developed. It has been seen that the development of the overall creation of the environment is filled with racial discrimination. Another aspect where the development of the approach of the society towards the racial intolerance has been seen is related to the manner in which the people have been considered as close to dogs. It creates a strong link associated with xenophobia (Hicks, 2003). Such tendencies brand people on the basis of their racial background and allow the development of the overall approach of the society that is intolerant towards racial issues.
