This unusual and nervous behaviour was noticed by the student in his personality which has become a part of his everyday life. This reduction in the frequency of the habit may be because the individual have become aware of behaviour and its possible causes of occurrence with the level of intensity and the duration for which the habit of nail biting takes place. The results of this self-monitoring assessment may be consciously or subconsciously affected by the awareness about the behaviour and its occurrence. The reduction in frequency of nail biting habit took place due to the awareness. The method of self monitoring is cost efficient and convenient. It can be ineffective at times as it’s a self monitoring assessment as while undergoing the behavioural assessment the frequency of the habit reduces. This method allows the behaviour to be monitored to be clearly identified from its beginning till its end. In the above listed case of nail biting, the habit does not occur at an extreme high rate which can make the recording of the event difficult (Abraham, 2008). The results show that the habit can be negatively reinforced by reduction in the level of stress, anxiety, frustration and feeling of boredom. The student was happy because of the positive changes he was noticing in his behaviour of more concentration and focus on the matters of concern and studies.
