The motivation for the learners at the point when we were formed into a group was to understand how to complete the work and at the same time also observe and enjoy the process. We were specifically instructed by our instructor to focus more on how we complete the task, rather than the task itself. On reflection, in this task, it could be said that the instructor had made very proper assumptions about the learners. The instructor would have worked with students for the same coursework and the same objectives before and hence would have known the form of difficulties that students would face in the course. For instance, in terms of language ability and fluency, students might face a difficulty in grouping and forming. This could cause issues for the student in meeting their course objectives. However, in this classroom the teacher was able to introduce better group interaction and solve the difficulties of communication skills getting in the way of students knowing each other.

For instance, I am a student who is still working on improving their language fluency and as such when introduced to a class of new class mates, I might take some time in getting to know them better. So in a course where most of the work entails us to work together as groups, the first proper assignment might have suffered because of me. So when the instructor allowed us to do a mock run of an assignment in class, it helped me learn to move out of my comfort zone to know other students in my group. Till date, this lesson helped me realize that getting to connect with people on day one could be a comfortable exercise and connects to more of attitude of the person. Also I have focused on communication skills understanding how this could serve me in this purpose. Secondly, the instructor in the learner setting understood the form of technology help we might require. So when forming groups, we were formed into groups of four or five where one of the persons in the group had more of a technology knowledge compared to the rest of the group members.
