Contemporary communication technologies are often accused of creating mayhem when there is none. This is something that a student in contemporary communication technologies has to defend. Now, this study is important as it shows how the moral panic as created in mass media connections in current times could lead to exaggerated understandings. The social reaction that is created results in more communication that is based on false assumptions. One understands the strengths of contemporary communication methods and technologies in class, and this work was seen to present the drawbacks that can exist because of use of contemporary technologies. What has increased connections has resulted in problems for society and this work enables one to understand the problem of moral panic but with the stable notion, moral messages sent are not false.

The work is significant for the research undertaken. The research wants to find out the ways that moral panics are enhanced because of connections. Media and people connectivity enhance panic. However, the research shows clearly that all such messages cannot be rejected as moral panic. Touching upon the work of Cohen, the author clearly differentiates between the moral panic that can exist using historical contemporary examples and then using the issue of pedophiles has attempted to present how sometimes even moral panics end up highlighting taking proactive steps in fighting pedophilia related adversities. Moral panics in fact could step from many existing events and hence the fear raised cannot be rejected simply.
