In this aged care program, volunteers’ work was organising some activities for old people who lived nearby. We need to pick up and drive them to the event every Tuesday. Through engaging with these old people, I noticed that most of them feel loneliness and have a poor health condition. As a volunteer, I want to figure out the risk factors contribute to social isolation and loneliness in old adults. As a social worker, I want to know how to increase the social connection for these old people and improve old people’s health and mental health and wellbeing outcomes. This is also one of the reasons why I chose this research topic.
