The discussion over a person’s ability to be a leader or remain an employee is never ending. It is the qualities present in an individual that differentiates him/her to be a leader or be a follower. In the movie in the discussion, we see two completely different people. The two main characters that we study are Miranda Priestly, the sharp and ice-cold editor-in-chief of the extremely famous Runway magazine and an aspiring journalist Andrea Sachs (Appannaiah and Reddy, 2010). Through the course of the movie, we see that both Miranda and Andrea “Andy” possess similar quality when it comes to working, but the person they are on the inside make them both very different. That is why Miranda is a successful business mogul running her fashion magazine even with a turbulent personal life. Andy, being from a comparatively cheerful background with a happy personal life, gets a job in the same magazine company and jeopardizes her life trying to excel in her career. A leader is what a person is on the inside of them. Working hard makes you a hard working person, but continuing to do the same thing restricts you as an employee only. On the other hand, a hard working employee with a far-sighted vision, self-confidence and a problem-solving nature has a capability of becoming a leader (Beebe, 2011).
