At present times copyrights limits the creativity rather than encouraging it. This result in wastage of highly impactful and influential works in some cases as a lot of legal complications is involved. It is mainly the case with old movies and music recordings and even some useful thesis sometimes. Copying these thing for preserving may attract the act of infringement and leads to heavy penalties and for restricting infringement acts creators have to self censor their own works. With the introduction of digital technology also no such strength has been provided for the extension of period of protection of original works. Copyright protection helps in covering the costs involved in the creation of the work and even for distribution of work in physical form. Whereas digital technology reduces the costs included in creation of work and also reduce the chances of protection of originality of works.
