The industry project cycle comprised of varying activities which differed in nature. Internship activities required interns to execute the tasks of a receptionist and attend calls. This role was assigned in order to acquaint the intern with the roots of the domain of mortgage brokering. The different processes delivered new experiences and thus deserve a mention in the reflective report presented here. Some of the experiences during the course of the industry project which put light on the personal growth of an intern have been mentioned as follows.
The study revealed that mortgage brokers were becoming influential in the domain of mortgage lending over the course of last 20 years. However the significantly lesser amount of research pointed out to the necessity of future research on the subject. The pertinent issue of the study included analysis of customer services that provided by mortgage brokers (Guo & Tsui, 2014). The skills of mortgage brokers are the sole reason for the efficiency of the mortgage sector which is apprehended by interns. Interviews with mortgage brokers help in understanding the differences in approaching to corporate banking and develop valid models for research. The qualitative research model is reflective of the outcomes of the research process. The outcomes of the research process are directed towards the strategic learning of interns and thus help them in gaining a practical approach to the study of mortgage brokering and basics (Ellis et al., 2014). The different models of research developed by interns are intended for obtaining a vantage point view of the domain of operations of a mortgage broker. Secondary data collection like documentation helps interns in finding explanations for various contradictory theories in the domain of mortgage brokering.
The continuous interactive sessions with supervisors enhance the approach of interns towards the issues. In this case the evaluation of customer service by mortgage brokers and the quality of customer information provided by brokers are the major issues to be evaluated. Interns involved in the process have to understand the reasons behind various meetings between managers and mortgage brokers arranged by them. This process helps the interns in knowing about the details of the profession rather than engaging in theoretical descriptions of the role of mortgage brokers. Supervisors are generally qualified personnel who are appointed for training and guiding interns in the various research activities carried out by the organization. Interns can learn the greater details of the various processes of research from the supervisors owing to the professional experience of supervisors (Clapper, 2014). Weekly interactions facilitate interns with sufficient time for consideration of available options and then frame a suitable methodology for the research. Personal growth of interns in this process is reflected in the intellectual expertise earned by the interns. Mortgage brokering is a complex domain which needs to be understood from an expert’s point of view. In case of the industry project considered for this reflective report, the supervisors offer interns with timely feedback and suggestions to broaden their scope of study (Li-hong, 2013).
