People from different cultural backgrounds have different style of communication, which makes the task of intercultural communication complicated. Intercultural communication includes both verbal as well as non-verbal communication. The language, symbols or gestures used for communication is different in every country. Working together at the same place requires communication (Patria de & Marc, 2001). When two individuals from two different countries communicate they need to understand each other’s culture and the communication technique they follow. Lack of understanding among the people from different cultures generates issues in intercultural communication such as misunderstanding among the employees of the organization. It is important for an individual from a culture to understand and learn the culture of others in the organization. Failure in this understanding is an issue of intercultural communication. When a person from a country interacts with another person from a different country it is necessary that both understand what the other party wants to share. For this purpose both the parties have to be aware of each other’s communication techniques. There are situations where people restrict themselves from learning communication styles other than their native style. This becomes an issue in the communication process. Lack of understanding also leads to misinterpretation by one party of the information shared by another party (Guang & Trotter, 2012).
