It is important to note that the follow-ship strategy will be largely influenced and affected by the adopted leadership strategy. The conceptual basis of the follow-ship theory is found on the fact that there could be no leader without an appropriate group of followers. However, the type of follow-ship will be decided by several influencing parameters. For instance, an effective follow-ship strategy was adopted by our group, required adopting several behavioural attributes of the leader. Accordingly, our group exhibited the right skill set in terms of motivation, tourism market forecast, a positive attitude, competitiveness and an eye for detail which helped us reciprocate with the leader when the situational leadership strategy was adopted.These qualities helped the team in identifying the shortcomings on the leader’s part and help address them through an interactive reciprocity. Likewise it was student D, F, G from our group, who had suggested certain management policies and had helped in improving certain drawbacks in the operational system which needed addressing. Therefore, the suggestion and plans for improving the beach-holiday sites came from the group and it was suggested by some of the experts from our team.

The group had exhibited similar passionate follow-ship qualities when other leadership strategies were adopted. However, it was noticed within the group that a segment of the team members were conformist followers and they conformed to whatever decisions were taken by the group leader (Saeed et al., 2014). They did not exhibit any active participation from their end and lacked critical thinking capability (Onorato, 2013). They have to be allocated their duties by their leaders and have no voice or opinion of their own. Working in the hospitality and tourism sector does not work that way. Moreover, Melbourne, Australia being a great tourist destination requires each one to be effective, capable and smart enough in their way of working. They are the individuals who failed to adapt to the laissez-faire leadership strategy that required exercising the individual intellectual faculty in terms of problem solving and individual strategy designing.
