The revolution took place in 1804 and this impacted the social order within United States that was run by Thomas Jefferson. There was rise of racial instability in the nation. Thomas Jefferson chose to handle this in a way that it would cause minimal impact to the United States. It was contended that this impact would cause detrimental impacts to the nation. The primary goal was to maintain social order in the nation and prevent action by slaves and white abolitionist. South slave owners feared that this ideology would spread into the nation and cause havoc to the existing social order in the nation. Even though Jefferson had wanted to instill equality in the nation, he did not acknowledge independent Haiti fearing retribution from the people within the United States. It was only after 1862 that Haiti was recognized as an independent nation by the United States government.
