In this section the analysis of the existing theories and arguments made by researchers has been explored. Some of the important theories and viewpoints in presented in the subsequent section.
Ecological feminism or ecofeminism is based on the fundamental ideology that patriarchy in the society is the root of all iniquities existing (Gaard, 2010, p. 653). Ecofeminism questions about societal conformities regarding the methods employed in production (Gaard, 2010, p. 654). Greed of men and roots of production was cited to cause effect on the environment and women oppression. People tend to assume that issues of feminism and pollution are two different issues in contention. This is however not the case. There are many direct relations between women and pollution that is yet to be explored. Ecofeminist believe that by shaping societal conformities for more liberalization of women environmental issues can be addressed. This branch of research connects the intricate network of events and elements that link notions of ecology and feminism. Ecofeminist’s accuse patriarchal dichotomy in society as the root of all environmental issues (Salleh, 1997, p. 172).
