For making the collaborative project design, the group focused on enhancing their skills such as better listening, better communication and presentation but inadequate problem solving skills and generation of idea. It was evident that each team member contributed average skills to the project. As we had a practice of 3 years education in college, the group had good listening skills, communication skills and presentation of ideas. Such skills are quiet essential not only with regard to this collaborative project but also for an individual’s development in future. One of our team members, Xiaofan Li had sufficient electronic engineering background and therefore all our IT skills were updated and no risk was hanging within the domain (Riley-Douchet et al., 1997).
There were other members in the group such as Dani Huang and Shenglong Huang who studied the programme of management within their college of undergraduate. This helped our group to have efficient leadership and time management skills. The idea generation and solving issues or problems however was a prime weakness of our group but 3 members of our group, Zhiqi Liu, Shenglong Huang and Jin Liu studied thinking within design as their additional subject domain in the previous semester and they were able to make all the team members learn from their skills of generating ideas and innovation. However, our group will keep a consistent focus within the domain of idea generation as this is not something we can read and learn. For this, a lot of practice is required and the regression of mental ability therefore consistently took the help from our tutors and will continue to do the same in future in order to avoid any issue within this area.
Also, the meetings conducted for collaborative project discussions played an essential role in keeping the group motivated and connected with each other. As the meetings were so essential, we added minutes for the meetings and a team member each day took turns to note down the minutes. This allowed us to maintain a record of the milestones achieved by the team each week.
