Once the BI/BS system is implemented, the business data analyst forms part of the extended team as they are the primary users who would be allowed to play with the BI/BS system. They provide feedback to the development team who will then conduct improvements accordingly. Secondly the Business data analysts will also form part of the key testing team too. They would be involved in the quality assurance testing and also systems integrated testing (IIBA, 2016).
A system analyst is very critical at these stages. Skilled in possessing knowledge on the source systems, the data analyst would be able to inform the team on the data source attributes (IIBA, 2016). The developer would not have all knowledge about the data except for its dimensions, variability and more. The more meaningful content of the data such as that of how it can best be customized and more are given by the Business data analyst. The business data analyst will also act as the liaison between the BI developers and the end users. The BI development is an iterative process and hence would require interaction with the business users (Chen et al, 2012). They are involved in the overall scope of change, and identify the information requirements at every point of decision making in BI/BS modelling. Completeness, validity of the source data code is assured by the analyst (Chen et al, 2012). The Business data analysis is involved in the generation of balanced score cards, ad hoc reports, OLAP querying and data mining and more (Sullivan, 2001). The business data analyst hence plays a very integrated when it comes to the BI/ BS system implementation. An assumed business analyst was used in the context of developing the BI/ BS systems.
The purpose of the report is to successfully assess the Business Intelligence and the Business Analytics system that was developed for Tesco. The report primarily discusses the project management skills that are required for the implementation. Different skills are identified from end to end of the project management processes.
Secondly, the role of the business analyst in the case implementing the Business intelligence, and analytics system is greater as the analyst will be involved at different stages of the system development. Hence, it is recommended in this assessment that the analyst be identified properly for system development.
