Some of the most important causes of the war of Vietnam can be revolved around the period during which USA was trying to expand in South East Asia and communism was on the rise in the world. The nation which was to equip Northern part of Vietnam actually had a fight with America.
Before the beginning of the Second World War, Vietnam was the part of the French Empire. During the time of the war, the country was actually overrun with the help of the Japanese people. However, when the people of Japan did the retreat, the people of Vietnam established the government led by Ho Chi Minh. At the end of the war, the allies who were there in the war returned to the southern part of Vietnam to the French. On the other hand, the Northern part of Vietnam had actually been left with the non-Communist people in China. The nationalists from China did a very poor treatment with the people of North Vietnamese. This led to the growth of the support for Ho Chi Ming. He was also removed from the power after the war. The Chinese people had lost their control over the Northern part of Vietnam again in the year 1946 and the party under Ho Chi Minh regained control over the Viet Minh.

They tried to fight with Viet Ming with the help of America, but they found it difficult to cope up with the guerilla tactics of Viet Minh. By now the Viet Minh was also getting the help from Communist China. This led to the development of two opposite powerful countries. This led to the conditions of war. The nation during that time actually had to be run by Bao Dai who was the king highly supported in the West. On the other side, Ho Chi Minh got the support of Russia, China and Eastern Europe, i.e. mostly the communist nations. In November 1953, the people in France sent their army in Vietnam. It was naturally assumed by the people of France that different units would lead to the defect of the guerilla soldiers of Viet Minh who were not trained. Therefore, these were sent to the regions of DienBien Phu in the North. In the month of May in 1954, this army was attacked by the people from North Vietnam and they finally surrendered. This came up as a great blow for those people who belonged to France. In the same month, the French was also pulled out of Vietnam.
