Creative thinking is an art of thinking that encompasses cognitive development and has the capability of solving complex problems with creative and innovative resolutions. Creative thinking is the way through which people approach complex issues and depend on their thinking in their working style. Thinking is the key element of creativity, which further includes some significant aspects of thinking in a creative manner. Creativity can be the fundamental way of living in the conceptual world (Warner & Myers, 2009). Creativity has also become a very debatable and interesting topic in the field of education. This essay will discuss what creativity is and whether I am a creative thinker or not.
The main goal of the education system is to encourage children to use their knowledge and thinking capacity to the maximum level and apply their thinking in every day problem solving. The learning experience of children is encouraged by teachers, who motivate them to have analytical and creative thinking. Thus, creative thinking is generating new ideas, which are also innovative, novel, task appropriate as well as of high quality. According to Walls (1926) (as cited in Tsai, 2012), Creativity is distinguished between the creative process and the creative product. There are four significant stages of the complete creative process. These four stages are: “preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification” (Tsai, 2012, p. 15). These four stages of the creative process were further elaborated in the Creative Problem Solving Model. The process of creative thinking goes through a creative process. This creative process includes the involvement of the creative actions and further move towards the phase of transformation. The transformation phase further develops in to the implementation of the transformed ideas and a creative product is generated. The creative product formed includes the personality, cognitive and affective processes (Hennessey, 2010).

Thus creative thinking is a complete process that includes the personality traits and cognitive ability of a person. The prominent creative people, with enhanced creative thinking abilities often display strong motivation, intellectual curiosity, strong sense of self, deep commitment, independence in actions and thoughts, high sensitivity and endurance (Feldman and Benjamin, 2006). The attitude possessed by a creative person includes determination, hard work, perseverance and self control, which encourage them to generate creative thinking. Thus, creative thinking can be considered as decision making and problem solving technique, which is based on motivation and personal attitude (Craft, 2001).
