Interviewing the members of family was a great experience. It gave me a very good understanding about my family’s cultures and traditions. It was nice talking to different members of the family and gets their views on the family’s past. The questionnaire which I prepared was apt and hence it helped me a lot to know about my family. I suggest one should always try out this exercise of interview in order to understand their family in a much better way. It is very important to ask open ended questions so that the informants get a space to explain the things in detailed manner (Toelken, 2013). Closed ended questions with yes or no as an answer would not be of much help during the interview process. It is also very important to choose the right members for the interview so that all the types of questions could be answered. Overall my experience was good and beneficial.
