The study identified certain differences of varying magnitude in the neutral verbal behaviour of the teachers as compared to the non-strategy and strategy lessons on separating the three distinct geographical contexts. However, the teachers applied behaviour that is more neutral verbally in the strategy lessons irrespective of their geographical context. Although the difference was evident, it was not statistically so. The study also included the effect of geographical context of the institutions on the behaviour of the students and teachers. Since the schools grouped into rural/village, town/suburban and inner-city, significant differences could not be observed in the on-task behaviour of the students in different locations. However, this might have differed if the different locations were studied separately as three distinct areas of study. It was observed that the teachers applied social or behavioural criticism more in inner-city as compared to the town or suburban schools though the difference with the rural or village schools was not significant.
