The study I have selected has much to do with veterinarian sciences. However, there was restriction of choice in selecting a Professor, as I had to choose someone from the Academic Senate list. There are no specific veterinarian sciences or zoological sciences listed here. Therefore, I researched through different professors working on health concerns that were similar to the one being investigated in their works, but with humans, such as obesity in humans, metabolic disorders in humans, and I was able to find that Professors Jamey D Marth’s specializations includes metabolic conditions related research works. Obesity is understood in general as being a result of overfeeding, lack of exercise and more. However, as research studies indicate obesity is viewed in the context of being a metabolic disorder that is triggered because of these parameters.

Some of his research works like “Pathway to diabetes” and “dietary and genetic control of glucose transporter-2 glycosylation promotes insulin secretion in suppressing diabetes” that he has co-authored with other researchers would be interesting areas to discuss with him. The interest for this research work focuses on the basic aspects of obesity, metabolic disorders and health issues triggered by obesity. Compared to what the Professor is involved in, such as the cellular engineering works, my research work is at a very basic level of understanding metabolic conditions. I don’t view this as a negative point, in fact it is an advantage. I would be able to gather information on the subject at a much higher abstracted level that would help guide my research work into a more futuristic direction.
