Eco-tourism or eco-friendly travel has been popular as of late. What does eco-tourism actually mean? Eco-tourism has been defined as ‘responsible tourism’ to the natural places or tourist spots without giving any harm to the natural beauty of the place. This type of tourism also promotes welfare of local people and conserves the environment.
With the increasing threat to the natural beauty and the greenery of the earth, many travel companies and tour operators are now adopting eco-tourism practices. Although it’s a candid procedure, some less reliable travel companies simply claim to be offering eco-tourism. In reality, these companies do not even follow the standard eco-friendly practices. However, many companies seriously take eco-tourism and conserve the environment.
This report assesses the eco-friendly practices followed by three tour operators offering tour packages to Andalucia, Spain. The tour operators have been assessed through an ‘Environmental audit style matrix’. The conclusion of the report is based on the results of the matrix.
