Stress is a condition, feeling or a state that occur when an individual finds itself overburdened of certain responsibilities. Stress at work is mainly caused when individuals feel that they are not capable of meeting given deadline or when they feel that their performance is getting lower than other employees. Stress either caused at work or due to personal issue always has an adverse effect on both organizations and individual (Chrousos, 2009). In contrast to this Spielberger (2010) stated that stress up to some extent is beneficial because it triggers individuals towards their duties and responsibilities and also motivate them towards achieving organizational goals. In the light of the study of Semmer (2006), pressurizing employees towards meeting deadlines is beneficial for organization. It has furthermore stated that there is a very thin line that differentiates stress from pressure. Thus, organizations must ensure that employees should only be pressurized rather than putting them into stress.
The foremost factor that causes stress among employees at workplace is the lack of acknowledgements and rewards. It has been stated by Robbins, Judge, Millett and Boyle (2013) that, forming team and groups on one hand facilitate organizations to achieve aims and objectives effectively and efficiently but on the other hand it also causes challenges for them in terms of dissatisfaction of employee with their job. It has furthermore stated by Johan Hauge, Skogstad and Einarsen (2007) that, if an organization awards and acknowledges on individual basis rather than appreciating the entire team than an element of jealousy has been created among employees thereby giving rise to stress and make the organizational environment adverse.
