The key aspects related to Bunnings posed threats to enter the market. However, in case of Masters, there were a number of other strategic issues that were either not addressed or strategic initiatives would not have been taken (Methner, Hamann and Nilsson, 2015). For example, store location was not suitable for the growth of business. A large number of stores of Masters were setup across the country. This significantly increased the cost of operations. Such steps not only resulted in loss of Masters but also drove away significant funds from the profit making business. Further, a lot of investments were made in establishing Masters in the market that the core business of Woolworths was affected thereby further impacting the performance. Establishment of stores took so much time for Bunnings to take steps to shore up its position in the market. Another issue is with the stock and product range. The products of Masters were more expensive and they have few of the trade items. This meant the satisfaction level of the customers was never there. A few customers shifted from Bunnings, but eventually went back owing to lack of differentiation.
