According to the meaning of affordances, it can be stated that all of these advancements have resulted in blending digital media and communication technologies with their physical counterparts, in a number of different contexts (Boyd and Ellison, 2007). As a significant example, the increase of social media has resulted in having a major impact on the current society and the present generation who are highly active on platforms of social media with a number of different purposes. Some stay active on these platforms for expanding the scope of their social circle, some stay active for maintaining their relationship with other users even though they are in an absolutely different part of the world, and a number of reasons that can be related to commercialization (Baym, 2010). However, it is important to note, as per the theories of affordances, social presence results in underscoring intentional expression and communication for a sense of belonging with respect to the provided community that results in recruiting the participation of interaction in the processes of knowledge building.
