Transference: In practice, I remember reading an article about a contaminated waterway in a developing nation. Insights presented on it indicated that local and international industries operating in the sector could have contributed to such contamination. It made me think about how much of power those leaders/managers involved in the situation had. It made me question how they were using such power to stop these happenings. However, I understand that the real-time situations could be constrained. Some concepts would be easier to discuss in theory, but there could be constraints when carrying out in practice. In terms of applying what I learnt in the course, I was at present looking of differences in theory and practice. I was now beginning to appreciate that although I could be an ideal leader in theory, it would need more than just a theoretical understanding to be implemented in practice.

Perceptions and interpretations (outside environments turned inwards): In terms of understanding the world with the new-found knowledge, I felt I was too critical about leaders of organizations and how they have failed at times. Now in understanding outside situations and case scenarios of leadership gone badly, I was not interested in knowing how my coursework will show me ideas on not falling into the trap. I believe that my expectations changed at this point. When I started the course, my expectations were aimed at improving my leadership attributes and learning more about it. Now during the coursework, I felt that I wanted to know how not to fail as a leader. This made me question my conceptual and theoretical understanding of what it means to be a leader. Since I wanted to know how not to fail as a leader, I felt I should go back and relearn on what it means to be a leader and a steward.
