In simple words, KM includes all the processes of using, sharing, capturing, storing, creating and managing of knowledge and any kind of information of any company or organisation. This is the approach which is multidisciplinary in nature and racially is taken up by the organisation so that the goals of the organisation can be met using the best of the knowledge that can be obtained (Evans, 2015).

This also includes the libraries, information sciences, management, information and media, public health, public polices, computer sciences and so on. The main units which seem to have dedicated are large companies and non-profit organisations along with public organisations which take up KM as a part of the strategies that they make, in the different departments like HRM and IT, and other consulting agencies. Thus, it can be said that KM focuses on how to make an organisation better. It also seeks to fulfil the objectives which have been set by the organisation so that in turn it also gains competitive advantage. Innovation should take place and the stored knowledge should be distributed for learning, integration and a continuous growth and improvement in the organisation.
