Cultural food loss: This can be explained for example from the perspective of UAE. The nation did not have any globalized food chains and it took cultural pride in its food systems. However, with the advent of major globalized fast food firms from U.S such as KFC and McDonalds, the preferences have changed. The preferences towards traditional food notion within the nation has also changed. Shops selling traditional food items are left without earning because the fast food restaurants have spread (Inglis and Gimlin, 2015). Through spread of junk food, globalization has taken the nations off of their traditional spectrum because it is easy to trade traditional food with food from fast food restaurants. Change in traditions further influences cultures and new generation’s development. For example, the restaurants of U.S such as McDonalds and KFC follow their individual American style and culture inclusive of American uniforms and restaurant designs (Inglis and Gimlin, 2015). When such restaurants reach another nation such as UAE, there is a culture clash, but as the American style is accepted in many nations, the style is fostered especially through the younger generations of the nation resulting in change of culture. Particularly, children are very much influenced through the newer traditions of food that they see around them, even though it might not be healthy. From this perspective, traditional and cultural foods suffer because people no more have an interest of eating from restaurants offering traditionally famous foods. The change is already occurring (Inglis and Gimlin, 2015). For example, in the tradition of UAW, people used to come together at the time of dinner, but after fast food restaurants advent, people have started preferring their individual meals rather than sitting together.

Issue of Sweatshops: With the advent of globalization, fast food chains have emerged. These fast food chains are just another term for sweatshops. Major corporations of fast food have gained benefits from young employees hiring over cheap prices (Power, 2016). Nowadays, however, young individuals are not the only ones who have taken these jobs. The workers are from every age and ethnicity. They depend over such jobs for their minimum daily requirements (Power, 2016). For example, in California, the minimum wage is set at 9 dollars for an hour. This makes it very difficult to acknowledge that such folks have managed to earn a living of decent nature. Some even have to depend over assistance from people and have struggled somehow to make their requirements accomplished. These fast food firms have kept individuals to work for more and more hours while providing them with as low wage as is possible (Power, 2016). The poor working conditions cannot be ignored and this is another negative influence of globalization over food. Especially, in the food industry, having jobs involves more stress and depression that no job. People have devoted livelihood to such companies and have gained nothing in return.
Conclusion
From the perspective of this essay, it becomes clear that globalization might have added benefits to the food system, but the amount of issues globalization has created only has added towards the prominent disadvantages. The disadvantages are so high that it becomes almost impossible to negate them with the advantages. The government authorities and regulatory policies need to be such that there is standardization of food even in this globalized world.
