The book “1984” was published in the year 1949. The book has been written by novelist George Orwell. “Airstrip One” (Orwell.com, 2016) previously known as Great Britain is where the novel is set in. A province named Oceania is a place of continuous war, where the government is always having vigilance and general public are always managed (Orwell.com, 2016). Oceania is a place where the political system is vague and named as “English socialism”(Orwell.com, 2016) and is always under the control of “inner party” an elite group of people of the society and there is no freedom for independent thinking. On the other hand “Gattaca” the movie released in the year 1997 and was written and directed by Andrew Niccol. It is an American science friction having Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke in the leading role whereas Jude law, Ernest Borgnine, Loren Dean, Gore Vidal and Alan Arkin were seen in supporting roles in the movie. The movie is considered as a visionary dystopia as compared to the book which is a dark dystopia.

Comparison on the storyline and characters of “Gattaca” and “1984”
“Gattaca” has one of the most sensible prophetic visions for the near future. Most of the technology that has been shown in the movie is already possible and the remaining society that has been depicted has not yet developed as per the setting of the story (Orwell.com, 2016). It is known to all that doctors within seconds of a human child birth are capable of predicting the possibility of certain disorders, characteristics and diseases and the approximate time and reason behind death etc. In due course of time and years of human being creation on earth a group of privileged super humans were born they have superior genetic codes. The story of the movie depicts the character of “Vincent” born to a lower class family but have the dream to reach the space. He was so determined that he cheated the social system and used the identity of another person to reason “Gattaca” which is equivalent to NASA of present days and he becomes one of the top most astronauts. When one of the directors of Gattaca was killed; Vincent truth was revealed and he was considered the prime suspect in spite of his innocence. Finally Vincent fulfilshis dream and finally blasts off in blue whereas his love interest Eugene committed suicide and left the cruel world behind. The relationship between Eugene and Vincent in the movie was shown of a swapping friendship.
